Two different wars and one and the same destiny: in Donbass there were discovered the remains of the Soviet soldiers
They all fought against the Nazi invaders in the distant times of the Great Patriotic War.
And once again our searchers are witnessing the intersection of two wars: one current which is called the ATO zone and that one which has already taken place in the past, that is, the Great Patriotic War.
Today in Donbass, just like 70 years ago, people decease, shooting sounds, sorrow comes to the houses of peaceful civilians. Mothers receive death notifications and at the cemeteries there appear the monuments to the fallen fighters. However, not all the deceased guys were able to come back home, many of them were left lying at the battle field.
Last week the searchers of “Platzdarm” (the partners of NGO “Union “People's Memory”) were able to discover the remains of the soldiers who deceased in the battles for Dolina village of Donetsk region in 1942-1943.
According to Alexey Yukov, Head of “Platzdarm”, the works were carried out in three stages, difficulties arose at every step.
“Dried up soil, heat. Due to the huge penetration of chemicals and fertilizers into the soil, the fighters' bones have become very fragile. But despite the difficulties, we have finished work at the location. We will return home everybody we can,” says the searcher.
In total, according to him, the searchers of “Platzdarm” have finished works at six locations, having discovered the remains of 13 soldiers of WPRA (the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army). The guys were able to find out that as far back as during the war the locals buried the bodies of the deceased pulling them into the machine-gun emplacements and weapon pits.
